He serves as the senior rabbi of Congregation Shearith Israel in Manhattan—the oldest Jewish congregation in the United States—and directs the Straus Center for Torah and Western Thought at Yeshiva University. He has lectured before members of Congress, spoken at the White House, and written for leading publications on faith, democracy, and Jewish civilization.
